Sweat Lodge
Pühali Resort invites you to experience an ancient sweat lodge ceremony surrounded by the beauty of nature.
Sweat Lodge
In many Native American traditions, the sweat lodge is regarded as a sacred space for spiritual connection with oneself, others and the natural world. For thousands of years, these ceremonies have marked new beginnings, honoured endings and supported personal, communal and spiritual healing. The ceremony unfolds through songs, prayers, silence and deep personal reflection. Sweat lodge ceremonies can be held separately for women, men or children, or shared together as a whole community.
In many ways, the sweat lodge resembles the traditional Estonian earth sauna or cave sauna, both considered predecessors of the Estonian smoke sauna.
By prior arrangement, Pühali Resort offers private sweat lodge ceremonies led by experienced practitioners. You can learn more about our ceremony leaders below.

Ivo Reinok
Ivo is a freelance actor and musician who discovered the sweat lodge through his own personal journey. “For me, these ceremonies have been deeply healing experiences, and I felt called to share them with others.”
The dome-shaped sweat lodge symbolises the mother’s womb. In the darkness and heat, through singing and prayer, participants may experience a symbolic rebirth. The word Temazcal comes from the Nahuatl word temāzcalli, meaning “house of heat”. Temazcal, or sweat lodge ceremonies, originated in Mesoamerica and North America more than 5,000 years ago and continue to be practised today as sacred purification rituals.
